Gloucestershire Scouts are seeking a passionate and committed Volunteer Event Director to take on and lead the UK’s largest independently run Scout and Guide event.

You’ll guide the event’s strategy, ensure good governance, and champion our mission to expand our programme for young people and support our growth.

The successful application will be appointed for an initial term of 3 years with the potential to extend to a maximum of 10 years subject to annual informal reviews and formal 5 yearly reviews.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience of a senior role in large events.
  • Experience in leadership, governance, and working with young people.
  • Passion for youth development and education
  • Strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience in finance
  • Commitment to attend regular planning and board meetings (either remote or face-to-face).
  • The ability to delegate whilst motivating the team to ensure strategic leadership that results in a quality event.

The successful applicant must be available to attend at least two days of build week and the main event days on the two consecutive weekends in June.  Build week is from Saturday 13th June to Friday 19th June.  Strategy dates are 19th – 21st June, Evolution dates 26th June – 28th June and Discover is 27th June.
