In light of the ever evolving Covid-19 situation I have regrettably taken the decision to cancel Strategy & Evolution 2020.
We have constantly monitored and assessed our position based on the latest information and advice from Her Majesty’s Government and The Scout Association. Along with the advice from the Government this afternoon there was an important statement from Tim Kidd, the UK Chief Commissioner, about Scouting activities halting with immediate effect – https://scouts.org.uk/coronavirus
I am aware that this is extremely disappointing for 3,500+ participants, leaders and helpers; it was a difficult decision, but I believe the right one.
All event fees paid to S&E by groups and helpers will be refunded. We will be emailing all group leaders and helpers with the process to follow to claim this money back. We will make every effort to make payments promptly but with a large number of individual payments to be made this will take time. Please note, we cannot reimburse any monies spent on travel or other costs linked to S&E 2020.
The good news is that we will be looking into the feasibility of running an ‘Strategy Lite’ event later in the autumn, more news to follow on this. For those in the 14-18 age range, Gloucestershire also run ‘Beast’; an activity camp in October.
